EU gives 31 million crowns to Czech research projects Prague, Jan 5 (CTK) - The European Union has allocated 31 million crowns to a top-quality training of Czech scientists and international activities of research teams at the Academy of Sciences (AV) and a Brno-based university, AV has told CTK. The EU has supported researchers from the AV´s Institute of Scientific Instruments and the Electrotechnology Department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication of the University of Technology in Brno. The institutes succeeded in the competition for European funds with the project Support for human resources and transfer of knowledge in the conditions of international cooperation of research teams. The EU subsidy is spread over three years. Thanks to the money, Vladislav Krzyzanek, a top Czech expert in electron microscopy, returned to Brno from Muenster, Germany, after 12 years, project manager Vilem Nedela said. The EU subsidy will also fund training workshops, guest stays of foreign scientists, support for researchers´ mobility and the establishment of cooperation with universities and the industrial sector. The institute has already cooperated with universities in Australia and Singapore, the Solartec producer of photovoltaic units and the Delong Instruments electronic equipment . The project authors expect Krzyzanek´s experience and contacts and support of visiting foreign experts to help improve the quality of research work, implement new research methods and extend research results on the basis of international cooperation.
